1. It’s Epic!
There’s something unmatched about the atmosphere of the Saber Tour events. The sound of trainers on the arena floor, of sabers clashing, of the Referees calling “HALT” above the noise of a bustling venue.
But more than that, the Saber Tour is epic not just because of how it feels – but because of what it is. In no other sport can you step into the arena, ignite your blade and become a Jedi (or Sith, of course) fighting for your life against the deadliest opponents in the Galaxy.
2. It’s a Community
I think that since I started LED Saber almost two years ago now, very few communities and individuals have been more supportive and welcoming than those involved with the Tour. Whether you’re a Coach, a fighter or a Referee – by joining the Tour you can be sure that someone will always be available to help you with what you need, whatever that may be.
And not only that, the Tour is a place to meet fighters from other clubs, other countries. They may have different training approaches, combat styles and mindsets towards fighting. Beyond just being a thrilling test of skill, every Saber Tour event is a space to learn, to grow, to make new friends and to share ideas.
3. You’ll Forge Your Legend
Even if you’re a new fighter who comes to your first event with two months of training and you lose all your matches. Don’t worry, everyone had a first time, no one was great to begin with. The Tour isn’t about a race to join the Top 16, it’s about turning up, fighting and having a good time.
The results don’t matter, whatever happens on Tournament day you’ll leave with an incredible story. You’ll have gone toe-to-toe with some of the best LED Saber players in Europe, you’ll have met people with the same interests and hobbies as you. And most importantly, you can go and tell all your friends: “Hey, I played Lightsaber in an International Tournament!”
Isn’t that a tale worth telling?
4. You’ll Find Your Weak Spots
Your first International Event is incredibly revealing. Fighting the best players in Europe helps you to work out exactly where you’re weak, this means, of course, you’ll lose some fights but then… How would we learn if we win all the time?
And the best thing? You don’t have to work all out in silence, everyone involved in the Tour is committed to helping one another grow, so if you lose a match, just ask your opponent – what can I do to improve my game? They won’t hesitate to help you out!
Even the world’s best fighters analyse their losses – growth is part of the culture.
5. Nobody Regrets Showing Up
No fighter I’ve ever spoken to has regretted coming to a Tour event. Whatever happens on the day, attending the Tour means you’ve tried your hardest, learnt new skills and above all: you’ve had fun!
Being part of the Tour isn’t about chasing that Gold medal, (but it can be if that’s what you want!) it’s about continual growth. Can you do better than last time? Can you score one more point than last time?
As I’ve said above, everyone here is committed to helping you grow and develop your skills.
There really is nothing to lose! And, of course, the only way is up!
